More than 50 volunteer champions put their own personal spin on A Day to Lead the Way, energizing their networks and encouraging their classmates and fellow Fighting Squirrels to support ����ý. 

“I was excited to be a champion because it was a wonderful opportunity to get my classmates involved in giving back to our alma mater,” said Nakita Hanson ‘06, who also made a gift toward A Day to Lead the Way. “During my four years at Mary Baldwin, I began to realize the infinite possibilities for my life’s trajectory. I was excited to give back to ensure that the next generation of students are provided the necessary resources to make their experiences at Mary Baldwin as special as mine.”

Trustee and donor Christy Howell ’93 created a top 10 list of reasons why she loves ����ý — including the university’s annual Apple Day tradition, lifelong friendships, and diverse community — and shared them throughout A Day to Lead on her Instagram account. 

These organic efforts by the #����ýfamily were essential to the day’s success. 

“We are so grateful for the work of our volunteer champions who took to social media, email, and the phones to ensure a successful day,” said Charles Davis, vice president of university advancement. “It was a lot of fun to watch how creative these volunteers were throughout the day.”

During yesterday’s day of giving, the ����ý community truly led the way to successful results on behalf of the university’s students.
