On behalf of Governor Terry McAuliffe, the Department of Veterans Services (DVS) for the Commonwealth of Virginia has certified ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ as a V3-certified educator through the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) program. As of June 1, ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ is the first four-year institution in Virginia to hold the distinction of being a V3-certified educator.
βAs a V3-certified educator, ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ is showing its commitment to our service men and women by way of making their educational experience more conducive to their transitional needs,β said Greg Anderson, assistant director of admissions and ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½βs point person for the V3 program. βThe training, implementation of best practices, and commitment to military and veteran student success will help to foster an atmosphere that is both safe and goal-oriented for all of our heroes.β
V3 representatives will work with ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ to provide free training for faculty and staff on veteran cultural competency; assist with improving the enrollment and graduation rates of military and veteran students; and facilitate the employment of military-related graduates by connecting them to V3-certified companies.
This effort connects with the mission of the V3 program: to educate and train employers throughout the Commonwealth on the value of Virginiaβs veterans and to help employers connect with these personnel assets to maximize the productivity of their workforce.
