Alumni-Led Education Symposium Returns

ý hosted the education symposium, “The Challenge of Change: Meeting the Needs of the 21st Century Learner,” Oct. 21–22. After successfully launching the campus’s first education symposium last February, the same group of ý alumni volunteered their time and partnered with ý’s College of Education to put on the conference for 2016–17. Co-organizers Amanda Lynch ’02/’06 and Courtney Leard ’02 spearheaded planning the programmatic aspects of the conference, while the College of Education stepped in to provide logistical and promotional support.ware069_19267_full-1

The conference was aimed at pre-service educators to help prepare them to enter the classroom and covers topics impacting PK–12 students and teachers.Participants choose sessions from three track options: socio-emotional topics, the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) content area, and the humanities content area.
